Our medical practitioner team consists of senior GPs who completed their specialisation training in general practice and GP Registrars who are qualified doctors on a two-year training pathway to complete their specialisation training.

All our medical practitioners enjoy learning and teaching and invest significant time in continuously building their own knowledge and skills to enable them to work in collaboration to develop a plan to keep you in good health or get your health back on track.

Dr Edmund Siauw

I believe in working together with my patients and their carers to achieve their optimum health – this usually involves more than just medicine. I also aim to practice using only evidence-based approaches.

My specific interests are preventative medicine, particularly cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. I have recently commenced a certificate course in skin cancer medicine through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. I am trained in the use of dermoscopy to look for skin cancer and I am happy to perform skin checks and minor surgery when appropriate.

I also enjoy talking with my patients about exotic food, soccer, and travel!

Dr Saif Aswad

Dr Saif Aswad moved to northeast Victoria in 2017 after working in emergency medicine in Sydney and Perth. Dr Aswad completed his final year as a GP Registrar with the SMC, obtaining fellowship with RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) in 2019. He likes all areas of general practice and has a specific interest in chronic disease management and dermatology.

In his personal time, he thoroughly enjoys spending time with his young family.

Dr Victor Ohuche

GP Registrar

Victor is our 1st Year Registrar joining us to undertake specialist training as a General Practitioner.

Dr Victor Ohuche moved to the Goulburn Valley region in early 2021. He previously worked at Goulburn Valley Health in different specialities like General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Oncology and Emergency Department.

Dr Ohuche’s interests are in emergency medicine, chronic disease management, paediatrics, mental health and indigenous health.

Outside work, Dr Ohuche cherishes moments with his wife and young son. He actively engages them in outdoor activities, particularly hiking, and bike riding.

Dr Tammam Shekh Ali

GP Registrar

Tammam completed his 1st term as a registrar at Gateway Health Albury and has come to us to complete his specialist training as a General Practitioner.

Dr Tammam has worked in Victoria for couple of years in Emergency Medicine and general medicine and moved to NE Victoria in 2022.

Dr Tammam Interests are in chronic disease management, Geriatrics, and preventative medicine.

Outside of work Dr Tammam loves to travel and explore new places.

Nurses

Our nurses are highly qualified and capable healthcare providers. All of our practice nurses are division 1 registered nurses with additional qualifications.

They are often the unsung heroes of primary care and assist our medical practitioners in the delivery of healthcare, obtaining your medical history when you are a new patient to our clinic. They lead preventative care in immunisations, health checks and are at the centre of your chronic disease management team. If you live with diabetes or cardiovascular diseases, it is likely that one of our nurses will work with you to set and achieve your health goals.

Jane

I have had the privilege of working as a nurse for over 35 years. I have worked in a variety of settings, including hospital, community health, rural and remote areas, and general practice.

My background is midwifery/lactation consultancy. My role now in general practice is preventative health care across all ages. A current focus is diabetes prevention and management – working to improve diabetes outcomes through building self-management skills in our clients. I believe in living well with chronic illness.

Bronty

I have a strong interest in general practice nursing. I enjoy building relationships with patients and getting to know them on a more personal level. My special interests include women’s health and supporting individuals who live with chronic disease.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exercising and travelling.

Karen

Karen enjoys assisting clinical teams to be organised and have access to the resources and equipment they need to deliver quality patient care. Karen gained significant experience as a Laboratory Technician, supporting hospital and outpatient settings before moving into primary care. Karen has an eye for detail and loves a challenge that enables her to continue to grow and learn.

Allyson

Allyson has worked in general practice for 12 years. Her interests is in Women’s Health, Chronic disease and asthma education. Allyson likes to spend time with family and her grandchildren.

Rajeena

I have had 25 years’ experience in nursing including clinical instruction and as a registered nurse. My special interest is in immunization, health assessment and chronic disease management. I like to spend time with my family and friends and like cooking and gardening.

Dr David Prentice

Neurologist

Dr David Prentice is trained as a Clinical Pharmacologist, Neurologist with a specific interest in chronic migraine.

Dr Ubaidullah Dawood

General Physician and Nephrologist

Ubaid joined the Goulburn Valley Health community in the spring of 2021. He completed a Nephrology fellowship in Adelaide, SA, and spent his first 5 years as nephrologist in Singapore at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He developed a special niche towards peritoneal dialysis (PD) in the treatment of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and pursued PD as a sub speciality of interest. He is also a fellow with the Academy Medicine of Singapore (FAMS) and took up a director of PD program role in a brand-new public hospital in Northern Singapore before returning to Australia.

As a senior clinician, Ubaid is responsible for day to day medical and renal patient management. Ubaid is currently in the midst of initiating a regional PD service in GV area. Besides his clinical role, he also involved in medical student teaching and education for junior medical staff at the Goulburn Valley Hospital.

Ubaid’s professional interests include effective delivery of medical and renal care service at the highest level, research involvement, leadership participation and community health promotion and empowerment.

Outside work, Ubaid enjoys travelling and spending time with his kids – they are his main interest and keep him busy. He also interested in cooking, outdoor soccer and is a massive Manchester United fan in English Premier League.

Dr Joseph Saji

Psychiatrist

Dr Joseph Saji is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a specific interest in bipolar disorder, neuropsychiatry and psychiatry.

Dr Tom Schulz

Infectious Diseases Physician

Dr Tom Schulz is an Infectious Disease Physician with a specific interest in refugee and immigrant health and provides care for those with hepatitis B and C.

Mr Bryden Dawes

Neurosurgeon

Dr Bryden Dawes is a Neurosurgeon who manages all general neurosurgical conditions and is passionate about providing individualised high-quality patient centred care. He has completed extensively trained in the latest minimally invasive techniques and uses these to improve patient outcomes and recovery.

A/Prof Michael Murphy

Neurosurgeon

Associate Professor Michael Murphy is a leading Melbourne neurosurgeon with over 20 years’ experience, having trained both nationally and internationally and has expertise in many areas of neurosurgery. He specialises in brain tumours, vascular lesions, epilepsy surgery, management of spinal conditions, and peripheral nerve surgery.

Ms Ashwini Anand

Psychologist

Ashwini Anand (Ash) has worked as a Psychologist for over three years across hospitals and private clinics, including working with various age groups such as children, adolescents, adults and aged care. Throughout this time, she has worked with families, couples and individuals.

Ash has experience and interest in working with clients who has a history of trauma, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders and eating disorders.

Ash uses evidence-based therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), IPT (Interpersonal Therapy) and schema therapy tailored for each client based on their needs. She also focuses on attachment styles, relationships and family dynamics.

Ms Tracey Botterill

Practice Manager, Acting Operations Manager

Tracey has a longstanding relationship with the SMC, having commenced as a Practice Administrator in 2010 and expanding her skills and knowledge to become Practice Manager in 2014. Tracey relocated to Yarrawonga in 2017 for a sea change, joining the Yarrawonga Medical Clinic. She returned to the SMC in 2019, bringing well-rounded experience and expertise in Practice Management and enjoys working with the SMC team to ensure we deliver and maintain a high standard of service provision.
